The training day featured a number of presentations that members generally found both informative and relevant:
Adam Johnson, a TAS member , Chartered financial Planner and St. James Place Partner, gave a well-informed review of the costs of care of all types and the need and methods of paying for this.
Sean Williams of Gateley plc used a number of case studies to demonstrate the use of pilot and settlor interested trusts highlighting areas of concern and suitability/non-suitability. A full set of slides has been made available to members.
Dennis Phillips of Buckles Solicitors ran through the key features relating to wills relating to European (especially French and Spanish) wills. A full set of slides has been made available to members.
The well-established sharing of information, experiences and best practice on several issues including: releasing original documents – changes to wills – Certificate Provider interview statements – online LPAs – Life Interest trusts (gifts by life tenants as opposed to termination by life tenants) – trustee incapacity – guardianship mechanics – Pro-Conference videos and more.
Paul Beck TAS member took members through the main recommendations that came out of the Office of Tax Simplification report of July 2019 and the report on ‘Land for the Many’ written for the Labour Party by one of its special interest groups and issued in June 2019.
